D & C is "safe": Like any other surgical procedure D & C has risks and complications. Because the procedure is done "blindly" then uterine perforation is always a infrequent possibility in the hands of an experienced GYN surgeon. This fact should not deter you from electing the procedure as it is performed very frequently for a number of indications.
