Depends: Many GP's have good pediatric training & devote a third or more of their practice to kids. Many keep up with the constant changes in diagnosis in treatment. Yet there is value in seeing a doc who spent 3-5 years in training specific to kids. They are less likely to refer you on to a specialist to evaluate things they deal with every day. It sometimes comes down to who is available & listens to you
