A member asked:

Developed hypertension;water retention, lymphedema;& shortness of breath when not lying down. my x-ray, ecco, heart mr, lungs are ok. whats wrong??

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Edema: Shortness of breath despite normal echocardiogram, ekg, lung exam calls for a treadmill stress test and,if negative, pulmonary function studies. Medications like amlodipine, corticosteroids, antiinflammatories like Advil or Aleve can cause ankle edema. Taking a diuretic reverses fluid retention and lowers blood pressure. Potassium must then be monitored though. A cardiologist is best to advise you.
