A member asked:

I had a gastrin blood test done in which i did fast for. my result came back as <15, what does that mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Gastrin: Is a hormone produced by the pancreas which stimulates production of stomach acid. Your doctor was looking for a disease called Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome in which your body would produce far too much gastrin, causing too much acid production leading to stomach ulcers. The fact that your gastrin level is normal means that you don't have the disease. Hope this helps!
