I was diagnosed with strep throat this morning and prescribed amoxicillin. i can barely swallow due to severe swelling/pain in right side of throat.

It happens: If you are having difficulty getting your meds down you could call back and ask them to give you a shot. I would think twice about that because in an adult it usually requires 1 in both buttocks. Drinking chilled or slushy fluids will often numb the pain and allow better fluid intake.
