Unclear: Usual adult doses of 100mg/d are considered safe in breastfeeding. Excessive oral doses (1000mg) are frowned on but no clear evidence of infant harm have been cited. Given the lack of clear benefit to anyone, cold or not, I cannot recommend it in the absence of clear safety data.
