Automatic toe cramps: Rule out systemic conditions and local nerve compression/irritation. We can get muscle cramps because the blood is unable to provide enough oxygen to the muscles and pyruvic acid starts to build up. In an attempt to avoid a toxic build up, the muscles convert the pyruvic acid to lactic acid which is removed from muscles by blood flowing through them. Consult your doc
