Is water more important that what we eat to have bowel movements? like does it keep it all squishy and soft no matter what we eat?

Little or no effect: Adequate water/fluid intake helps avoid overly hard feces and constipation, but extra water has little effect. Almost all ingested water is absorbed from intestines into the blood, with excess amounts then excreted by the kidneys. Foods have by far the main influence. For ideal bowel function, it's most important to eat a balanced diet with substantial fiber from fruits, grains, and vegetables
