A few days...: Almost any antibiotic can cause diarrhea, including metronidazole. If it continues more than 3-4 days after treatment (or your last dose), or if you pass blood or develop fever or severe cramps, contact your doctor right away. In the meantime, keep eating, with emphasis on high fiber foods.
