Entamoeba coli is: Generally not a disease causing organism but if it was the only thing found, Metronidazole can be used.

Yes: Entamoeba coli is one of the protozoan parasites shown to produce intestinal infection in humans. The presence of cysts and not trophozoites makes one wonder whether this organism was there only incidentally, but its presence along with the symptoms makes infection probable. Metronidazole will be quite appropriate. Depending upon where you have been would check for other parasites.
