A member asked:

1 week postpartum, ddimer test over750,couple days later it was at 800 and some.had ctscan normal, shouldnt the numbers be going down?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, a positive D dimer assay is expected in post-partum phase. A negative D dimer is good for excluding clots but a positive one is not diagnostic of clots. Wish you good health!
