Maybe, maybe not: It might not be normal if there was a small piece of placenta remaining inside the uterus which is being ejected with the clots. Ask you OB MD to examine you if this continues as infection can occur if there is more materiel left behind.l

YES- NORMAL: Passing lochia for up to 8 weeks is normal after giving birth. If you do not have a fever, a could smelling discharge, and the lochia does not look purulent (like pus), then this is nothing to be concerned about. It is common to stop bleeding and then start again when nursing. This is often when the eschar (or scar from where the placenta was attached) is falling off.
