Nitrofurantoin: Nitrofurantoin is a commonly used antibiotic for bladder infections in pregnancy. In general no specific recommendations are made regarding cleaning the vagina in cases of bladder infection. I would contact the prescribing doctor to see clarification. Perhaps another vaginal issue was noted during the exam.
