Hemangioma: Most bright red "moles" are not moles at all, but small blood vessel tumors called hemangiomas. With rare exceptions, they are harmless. In many people they become more common with aging. Usually there is no particular cause. If one or more are in places that causse cosmetic problems, usually they can be removed or otherwise treated by a dermatologist.
