A member asked:

My internal specialist said that if bilirubin count reaches a 3 i'm going to be jaundice before i notice stool color change is this true?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not necessarily: Stool color will change if bilirubin rises due to obstructive jaundice. You may have a yellow tint to your eyes and skin at a bilirubin level of 3 or higher. If you have Gilbert syndrome, it is harmless, despite the elevated bilirubin and jaundice.
