Sounds ok: There should be no problem for an adult to take 72mg of elemental iron one time, which would equal about 360mg of ferrous sulfate. Adults who take extra iron supplements on a regular basis should check with their doctors to be sure they really need the iron and that they do not have a problem with excess stored iron (it's a hereditary problem).
