A member asked:

Aml process. what will happen after auto sct. how weak will the patient be? what are the meds most likely to be used

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very weak; Bu/Cy.: Auto SCT is done occasionally for patients with AML in compete remission who have no matched sibling or unrelated donors for an allogeneic transplant. Patients will feel very weak from high-dose chemo plus/minus radiation until engraftment when new blood cells are produced---about 3 weeks. Commonly used regimens for SCT may include cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan) and busulfan +/- radiation.
