A member asked:

When a patient with aml gets a cbc drawn what would cause a red flag for aml? high wbc? low wbc? how low or high?

Look at serial chang: The blood counts have to be related to the timing of chemotherapy, remission status, and many other unknowns. So we look for a trend for change between 3-4 blood counts, done at an appropriate interval which requires judgment of your Oncologist. Unexplained changes in blood counts(Hb, WBC and Platelets) raise Flag/s.
