Should be OK: If you have trouble taking pills, it's OK to crush azithromycin into any kind of food. Or if the powder sachet indeed isn't available, I'll bet the pediatric suspension is available. That's another option. Or use an entirely different antibiotic: everything treated with azithro has at least other options available, such as doxycycline and others.

Yes: According to the Institution for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP.org) azithromycin can be crushed and swallowed if you are unable to swallow it whole. It probably wont' taste very good, so pinch your nose and swallow! ;). Hope you get well soon.
