A member asked:

Will sleeping an average of 6 hours per night, under the optimal length of 8-9 hours, at ages 15-16 stunt growth, or will it have no effect?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not optimal: That is an inadequate amount of sleep for healthy development in subjects in that age bracket. I'm not sure if it actually stunts growth, however. The brain does use healthy sleeping hours to clear waste products that build up during the day.Strive for at least 8 hours of good sleep per night.
