Lumps and Bumps: Lymph nodes are sentry posts of the body. An enlarged node can be due to infection or abnormal growth (neoplasm) of the lymph system. In children, suspicion for infection is always assessed by a good history and exam. LDH is a substance that usually indicates cell or tissue damage in the body and can also be seen with infection (like mono) or neoplasms (tumors). Your doctor was being thorough!
