Bleeding/sex: If the cervix is inflamed, as in the healing process, or with easily irritated areas , bleeding can certainly be caused by sexual activity. Mirena IUD's contain progesterone, which can interfere with ovulation. If pain is associated with bleeding, the IUD should be checked to see if it in the appropriate location: if in the cervical canal, it should be replaced.
