Mirena IUD: Insertion of the Mirena IUD just following a "D&C" may cause it to be pushed into the cervical canal from strong uterine contractions, leading to continued bleeding and pain. See the provider who did the D&C and put in the IUD for an exam and possible ultrasound to make sure the IUD is within the uterus and not the canal.
