A member asked:

Why would liver cysts show on a ct i had with and without contrast, and not show up on an ultrasound 2 weeks later? upper abdominal pain.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Every diagnostic: test has limitations. CT is more accurate for liver cysts, whereas ultrasound is more accurate for gallstones. Liver cysts usually do not cause pain unless it becomes very large. Causes of upper abdominal pain include ulcer, gastritis, gallstones, GERD, and sometimes even shingles or other non-GI causes. Consult with a GI specialist to be sure.
