Is it safe to take azo cranberry pills for a uti/bladder infection while breastfeeding a 7 week old?

Safe for baby but...: Cranberry has always been controversial, but from recent research we know for sure it does not prevent or treat UTI. The "azo" component is phenazypyridine, a bladder anesthetic: it somewhat numbs the inside of the bladder and helps reduce symptoms, but doesn't cure UTI. You need to have a proper antibiotic by prescription. In any case, it won't harm your baby.
