A member asked:

M just genuinely curious, but when people have parts of their body (tumors, cysts, legs, kidneys etc.) removed where do they go?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pathology lab...: When people have tissues / cells removed from their bodies, these specimens are generally sent to a pathology laboratory where lab staff, technicians, and doctors (pathologists) study the tissues and cells (usually under microscopes) to help determine what is wrong with the tissues. The lab will determine if the process is an infection or a tumor and whether or not a tumor is benign or malignant.
