Hi i just wondered if penicillin - to be given 4 times daily meant during waking hours or am i to wake my daughter up in the night? if not can i reduce the time inbetween from 6 hours to 4? thanks

Depends: This is rarely used in the US because of the need to give it so often. Cheap alternatives like amoxicillin can be given 2X/d & treat the same germs. If your stuck with this med, do the best you can. For a worrisome problem with lots of pain, try to stay on a 6 hr schedule. For a simple strep throat with less symptoms you can give it on waking/before bed and 2X spaced in between.
