Could still be: It may take a while for the medication to leave her system. If this is the first time she has reacted, she could have a worse reaction the next time. She should not take it again.

Hives can last: It could definitely be a reaction to penicillin, but it might not be. Drug reactions can start several days after the medication is discontinued, and can last up to....Months (rarely). Hives can occur from infections themselves, or from other allergies as well. They are one of the most difficult diagnoses to dissect. But if she was just taking penicillin, that's still your best bet.
