Usually give a...: At night, we usually give a toddler a chance to sleep until morning. If a toddler was normal the day before, and then starts having typical stomach flu symptoms of vomiting or diarrhea, he should be fine sleeping through the night without needing to eat or drink anything. First, you need to stop feeding your child for at least 4 hours. If vomiting has subsided, you can offer sips of pedialyte in increments of 5-10 ml every 10 minutes. As you increase the volume, you would also adjust the frequency. It is ok for your child to sleep if he is not in distress, lethargic, nor dehydrated. You can start liquids when he wakes up in the morning instead. To ER if not stop vomit.
