A doctor has provided 1 answer

Type of presentation: Only 10% of infants born with CMV have features evident at birth (symptomatic). These include small size, small head, jaundice, large livers, blotchy blue rash, infection of their retinas & calcium deposits in their brain. These have been infected in the first half of pregnancy. The "asymptomatic", infected later, have variable outcomes, but may just have progressive hearing problems.
