A member asked:

Is an hsg test result always accurate? if the dye falls outside, no-spillage is normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: HSG is an accurate test, however on some occurrences the tube can spasm significantly preventing spillage of dye into the abdomen. If this is suspected, a repeat test may be ordered. A normal, unblocked result would be spillage of dye into pelvic cavity. No spillage would indicate blocked duct.
