It Depends on Med: Some are quick acting (15min) but their effects go away quickly as well. These are generally called anti-anxiotitics or tranquilizers. They are given for occasional use during extra stressful times or sometimes taken in low doses on a daily basis. Recently, Cymbalta (duloxetine) was developed for long-term treatment of anxiety. It is an snri and can also help with depression & other issues. It may take 4-6 wks.
