My pap smear test revealed i have cervical dysplasia which is low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion. i tested positive for hpv and due to that my doctor has recommended llets biopsy. is this the right treatment or is it drastic?

Yes: The info you provides says you have what is a pre-cancerous lesion on your cervix. The biopsy procedure itself can remove those cells or show that a more extensive procedure be done to remove them. This is the way you avoid progression to actual cervical cancer.
