I suspect my 10yo son has a boil at the back of his neck. red, swollen (about 1cm wide) and painfull. do i leave it until it is ripe or act now?

Moist heat: If you place a moist heated compress on the area it will often draw the boil to the outside where it can vent spontaneously. A face or dish towel moistened & microwaved will do the trick. Test the unit for safety. Leave on until it cools & repeat as needed.
