A member asked:

If you have been diagnosed with the flu and quickly take tamiflu (within 24 hours) does your body still produce an immunity?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: If a person would have produced immunity to a strain of influenza virus without taking Tamiflu, she should still produce immunity even while taking Tamiflu. That is because Tamiflu interferes with virus replication (reproduction) but does not stop all of the replication. There will still be influenza viruses in her body, but just fewer viruses than if she had not started Tamiflu early.
