A member asked:

Is it unusual for a left-sided submanibular gland to be quite visibly enlarged for over a month (with no other symptoms) and for an ultrasound to detect no abnormality in the neck at all? i'm baffled. any suggestions or advice, please?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Otolaryngologist: The submandibular gland enlargement may be caused by a silent blockage in the duct by a stone. An Otolaryngologist is best qualified to evaluate, advise and treat you. I assume that this is not a pathologic lymph gland that should be biopsied.
