Depends on reason: Each case is different. A patient can ask her own doctor about her individual case. Amoxicillin usually works for infections like strep throat, at 250mg 3 times a day, but 500mg 3 times a day is ok too. A doctor might prescribe more Amoxicillin if he thinks the patient's infection needs a bigger dose, or if he thinks the patient's intestines are not absorbing enough of the medication, etc...
