Abscess: This sounds like it could be an abscess which is an infection. Given that he is diabetic, he should be seen for evaluation of need for antibiotics.

Groin lump: Your brother needs to see his doctor. One possibility is an inflamed lymph gland, another is a sebaceous cyst. It could be more serious so he needs an in person diagnosis. Peace and good health.

See doctor: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if your brother has an infection. Being diabetic adds to the severity of infection and you should not delay getting him to a doctor.

In that area: a HERNIA must be ruled out...and if painful may be INCACERATED (STUCK) (a loop of bowel may be in the hernia sac....get it checked out ASAP Hope this is helpful...BE WELL Dr Z
