Strabismus: Exotropia is a form of strabismus, or eye misalignment, wherein one or both of the eyes turn outward. Exotropia may be congenital or acquired. This condition may occur in association with a 3rd cranial nerve palsy or previous eye muscle surgery done for strabismus. Most forms of exotropia do not resolve completely. However, some people may be able to control the condition with glasses.
