Advil or Naproxen: Ibuprofen or Naproxen seem to be the best over-the-counter medications for dental pain. However, they never cure the problem. Teeth aren't supposed to hurt. You should see a dentist and get the tooth fixed or removed asap. Masking the pain with meds can only hold you for a while. Usually the condition continues to get worse. Avoid chewing on that tooth so it doesn't break any more. Good luck.

OTC nsaid: Advil/ibuprofen/Nuprin wil take the edge off, but will not fix the problem. Take exactly as directed...don't overdose. Remove all stress from the tooth (don't chew/bite on it, soft diet, nothing real hot/cold) until you can get in to see your Dentist. The longer you wait, the greater the chance the frat sure will expand. In this situation, time is not your friend.
