Inflammation : You may have bumped it and caused inflammation of the bone. Try an anti inflammatory such as Ibuprofen or Aleeve.

Varies: Well it varies, partly related to the degree of swelling involved. There are inflammatory conditions that can involve the medial elbow, the most common of which is known as medial epicondylitis (golfers elbow), and then there are more serious conditions like infectious processes as well. Don't hesitate to be seen for it.
