Depends: I assume this is a recent change. Do you have a wound or infection near to the swelling? If a lymph gland is inflamed or infected, it is enlarged, firm and tender. If you have these findings, or if it is enlarged, irregular and nontender, then get it checked soon. Otherwise, get it checked if not improving. Hope that helps.
