Dr. John Good answered

Ice, rest, stretch,: The key aspects of tendonitis treatment are resting the area, icing it as needed for pain, and taking anti-inflammatory medicines such as Ibuprofen 600-800 mg 3 times a day with food as long as your stomach tolerates it. Sometimes wearing a splint to immobilize the area, if possible, is a good way of resting the area. Gentle stretching of the tendon daily is also important.

Tendonitis: Tendonitis refers to tendon inflammation. Both tendon inflammation and tendon degeneration tend to respond well to eccentric strengthening. Contact your physician for a physical therapy referral.
