Mirena IUD/menopause: The average age for "true" menopause is 54 among US women, which is when estrogen is no longer made by the ovaries. The marker for this is the level of "follicle stimulating hormone" (FSH) which is commonly at 90-100 or more (the premenopausal levels are from 2-10). Mirena has progesterone which can negate ovulation, so ask your gyn provider to measure your FSH for certainty.
