I have been taking one 0.25mg tablet of xanax daily (prescribed by my MD) for 5 months. I take it in the middle of the night because I have sleep anxiety, but I want to stop taking it. Do I need to taper off of it? my doctor has been no help?

On saphris (asenapine) 10mg for bipolar. Been emotionally flat for a year. Looking to get off of it. What's the best way to taper to avoid withdrawal. My doc says to just stop cold turkey. I'm afraid of that.
Inability to sleep is a rare thing but it's real. My doctor wants to recommend a psychiatrist but I don't have the luxury to find one I can relate to (cultural differences amongst other things) but I still don't sleep whatsoever. What are the options?
