Must check the heart: An older adult with chest pain or left arm or shoulder symptoms usually has to go to his doctor (or the ER) to be checked right away for a heart attack. It means not waiting at home to see if it turns into a bad heart attack. As the saying goes, "better safe than sorry." There are other causes of pain, especially if the pain is more generalized, but worry about that after verifying a good heart.

Many possible: causes. If you shot an arrow through your chest and out your back, there are many structures that would be injured. Skin, muscle, bone, lung, heart, esophagus, nerves, etc. IOW,it’s complicated. See your doc if the pain persists or becomes recurrent.
