A member asked:

Can hip bone broken heal without surgery for elderly? and if surgery, what are the risk and good chance for a 72 year old man?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Get a good surgeon: while hips can heal without surgery, it can take 6 weeks of bed rest for this to happen. This is not a benign treatment for a 72 year old, or anyone really. This can increase the risk of aspiration of fluids/food into the lungs, increase the risk of skin breakdown and significantly decondition you and requires a long rehabilitation period. Let your surgeon and medical doctor advise you
