A member asked:

I have a rnp result of 1.1 everything else was in normal range . does this possibly mean something else is going on?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not a screening test: The RNP is sometimes found in MIxed Connective Tissue Disease (MCTD), an autoimmune condition but I would look at things differently. The RNP is worthless as a screening test. It should not be performed for symptoms such as fatigue, achiness, poor sleep, etc. Only if MCTD is strongly suspected would the RNP be useful as a confirmatory test. Your RNP of 1.1 is borderline positive.
