Cramps ?: Every crying baby does so by tightening their breathing muscle. This pushes out on the belly and makes it firm. Many people assume they have a digestive or stomach issue when this happens. Many kids cry at night, particularly after 6mo when they realize they are alone. (separation anxiety) An exam and other symptoms might clarify the issue.
