Chronotherapy: Current data suggests that insomnia is best prevented and treated by avoidance of caffeine for 12 hrs. and alcohol (1 oz. or less) for 4 hrs. before bed. You should get up at same time 7 days a week. The bedroom should be kept dark. Watching TV late at night is also to be avoided. You may take OTC melatonin (according to labeling) without concern. Consult your doctor if you continue having probs.

DEPENDS: Insomnia is a very big symptom of many sources. It can be stress, mood, medications, alcohol, illicit drugs. So best to try to narrow it down and then try to exercise, reduce caffeine, not eat to close to bed, turn off electronics. If this does not help then contact PCP
